Wow I had my eye
"Wow I had my eye on this bin for a while. Live in a flat. Fits perfectly in the space I wanted it in. The recycling bin is amazing n so is the compost bin. My other bin use to smell so I did wanna change it It’s expensive but honestly worth it especially if u do a lot recycling n compost. Bin bags are strong, bit expensive. Quick delivery by DPD. Overall a fab bin"
Great product, love this bin!
"Great product. I highly recommend getting this bin. I live alone and its a great size for me. However I think it would be big enough for a house of 2. Its compact, removable parts are great. Great design and easy to clean :)"
Bought Tow!
"Very impressed with these bins. We have two side by side so we enough space for paper/card, glass, metal/plastic and non recyclable waste."
Good design, but recurring lid mechanism failure
"I really like the overall design of the Totem Max — it’s practical, space-efficient, and the waste separation system works very well in daily use. However, the lid mechanism has been disappointing. This is actually the second unit I’ve owned: the first developed a fault after a few years, and I had seen similar reports of lid issues at the time. I assumed the design would have been improved since then, but unfortunately this second unit failed much sooner — after around 6 months of normal use. The issue appears to be the internal plastic latch, which feels too fragile for a high-use part. I’ve included a video showing the lid not opening when pressed, with a clicking sound from the mechanism, as well as a photo of the broken latch. Customer service was straightforward and the return/refund process was handled well. Overall, it’s a great concept and design, but the durability of the lid mechanism needs improvement for long-term premium bin use."
Another well designed bin!
"Really well thought out. We are a household of two and the 40L works effectively for us. It’s helped with workflow in the kitchen as recycling is such a fundamental part of the day to day. This is our second bin from Joseph. It matches our existing joseph designed general waste bin (we loved the side opening which eliminated the “suction” effect when replacing the bin liners). It’s the little things that are well thought out that make the difference to your everyday experience."
Great whilst it lasts
"The concept of this bin is brilliant. Sleek looking bin with practical use. However there are flaws you wouldn’t expect for a circa £200 bin!! Firstly after a while the spring on the lid doesn’t work as well, meaning the lid doesn’t look up as well (sometimes not at all) on being pressed. Secondly you can’t buy a replacement lid for a bin that you can still purchase now?!!! My bin lid has over time cracked and now split at the hinge - can’t replace it. So it’s now a replacement bin!! Secondly. If like us you reguarly move the bin to clean behind it. Beware the sliders/rubbers underneath quickly dissipate and you’re left with scraping sound across your floor tiles!! For a premium product incredibly disappointed For the record. I’m a big advocate for J&J. Been a fan and practically own all their products!! But this one is for me the worst quality/sustainable"
This is a great bin
"This is a great bin BUT this is a replacement to one I originally got replaced a year ago and the lid mechanism failed The previous bin I had last nearly 8 years me and the warranty replaced it as the guarantee use to be 10 years Unfortunately the bin isn’t as strong as old one as they have changed the design . At least it’s got a guarantee of 3 years if it fails again"
Top service
"Bought one of these bins over a year ago and the hinge broke. Joseph Joseph replaced under warentee thanks great service."
Perfect bin
"Compact, clean lines, fits perfectly in my kitchen. Just the right size for both waste and recycling. Doesn’t mark easily. I like everything about it."
Pricey but nice
"It’s a nice looking bin in a compact size with a little integral food waste caddy. We’ve had to experiment a bit as to where we put the caddy as one of the dogs worked out her can pull open the lower layer of the bin to get to the food!"
